Features
COTTO ETRUSCO® production process starts with an accurate selection of the best clays, wisely blended, that are worked with ancient handcraft techniques without the aid of mechanical machinery.
Each piece is shaped using handmade wooden molds and left on the ground for 20 days until it is completely dry from natural air circulation. During this delicate process our artisans make daily checks, implementing scrupulous quality controls and making sure that each piece dries properly. Once they are completely dry the products are finished on the edges and finally baked for ten days in wood-burning ancient stone kilns. This procedure gives an exceptional solidity to the Cotto items, but above all a wide range of shades in warm colors that make COTTO ETRUSCO® an absolutely unique and inimitable product.
Finishes
COTTO ETRUSCO® offers four different surface finishes of varying roughness of the terracotta face. Discover the finishes.
NATURAL
This is the classic finish, rich with creases and cavities typical of the dry clay. It arises from the particular production process of COTTO ETRUSCO.
Particularly recommended for outdoor use and for all locations where a strong rustic aesthetic is desired.
SANDED
The sanded finish is produced manually, it creates a used effect on the tile surface, recalling ancient floors and lived ambiences. Especially suitable internally, for classic and rustic aesthetics and renovation of historic buildings.
SEMI-SMOOTHED
The semi-smoothed finish is produced with the aid of special machinery that allows a strong “smoothing” of terracotta tiles to create a very regular surface. Especially suitable internally, it is sophisticated and easy to maintain.

Pre-Treatments
The COTTO ETRUSCO® natural terracotta can be laid naturally or treated with any treatment suitable for terracotta. COTTO ETRUSCO® can be supplied already sealed and ready for use, in two different treatments that can be chosen according to the desired effect.

TR1
(WETCARE)
Wax treatment semi-shiny wet effect. This is a solid and liquid wax based treatment, that brightens the tones and gives a semi-shiny effect to the smooth parts of the tiles. Suitable for indoor.
TR2
(MATTCARE)
Water resistant treatment matte natural effect.. This is a water-proof treatment that does not modify the appearance of the tiles, leaving it natural to the eye. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor.
